I’ve recently suffered through my first case of shingles and they were extremely painful and awefull looking.  I started this website to increase the knowledge of this virus and how you can minimize the pain and get over them a fast as possible.  It seems that this virus, which normally attacked older senior citizens, is now attacking people in their 50′s.  Some insurances only pay for the high price vacination ($250) when someone is older than 60.  Someone has to tell these insurance companies that they need to start covering people younger.  I have a lot more to tell, I’m just getting started, so check back often and leave a comment on your experiences.

I have had bad face pain since Friday, I thought at first it was my teeth. I was getting ready to go to the ER yesterday because of how badly my face was aching (it felt like I was punched in the face), and I noticed a rash forming in the area it hurt most on my face. When I went to the ER, they thought it might be shingles forming (an early form). No blisters formed yet for them to determine shingles for sure, but the rash itself didnt itch or hurt, just the area below the rash under my skin was very achy. Does the rash have to itch or be bothersome at all for it to be shingles, or can it not be bothersome and still be shingles?

I had shingles when I was 14 years old. my question is, what are the risk factors of reoccocurrence?

I have had Singles for 7 months now. Took Valtrex, Lyrica, am now on neurontin, 900 mm/day, but there seems to be no relief. Pain is focused in right arm pit. Being touched by clothing feels like bad sunburn. My nurse told me 5 months ago “Singles will eventuary go away. Trust me.”

I had shingles in may 2010 and it went away about eight to ten days later. I am having swollen glands under my jaw, could this be do to the shingles virus I had?

My 10 month old son was being babysat for by his great grandmother, who had her shingles vaccine at lunchtime. She was told it would be fine as long as she wore a mask since he wont get the chicken pox vaccine until he turns 1. I am just wondering if anyone knows the likelihood of him catching anything serious- mask or not- from this? Thanks!
