By Sean T Saunders

Migraine headache problems are vascular, which implies that the pain is related to the blood vessels and nerves of the head, which can be sensitive. Headaches crop up in the head or face and upper neck areas. Jaws and teeth can also be sites for the origin of pain. The skin, ears, bone, mouth, nose, and eyes, are affected structures. The brain, however, is not able to “feel” pain, and thus pain cannot originate there.

Migraines are usually instigated by a number of irritants, inclusive of strong odors, stress, lights, and diet, in addition to other external or internal conditions. Once they start , migraines typically necessitate medication to alleviate them. Luckily, non-drug treatments are also available for the problem. Two such treatment options are biofeedback techniques and relaxation. Headaches can begin when the body works a lot, or undergoes a lot of stress. Lying inside a dark room with the eyes closed, and relaxing the body a little, could be just what is required to stop the headache.

Biofeedback is a technique of the mind and the body that can be used to convert the nervous system into an ally instead of an adversary. Training is used to build this “alliance” with the controlling of physiological functions such as skin temperature and muscle tension. Medicinal drugs or needles are not involved, just artfully talking and listening to the body and it’s requirements. The migraine cycle is often a vicious one of the blood vessels enlarging, release of certain pain inducing chemical substances ensues, followed by the sympathetic nervous system being activated. The cycle is broken by means of biofeedback and pain is prevented.

The skin temperature biofeedback is the technique used for migraine headaches. It focuses on educating an individual to alter his hand temperature. Persons are trained how to control their body temperature, as this enables regulation of the body’s sympathetic nervous system. An instrument named a thermistor is fastened to a finger on the person’s dominant hand, while the smallest of temperature changes are registered and fed back by means of a display unit. The individual is taught to implement thermal biofeedback relaxation to increase or decrease the hand temperature. Personal devices can be used in the home to accomplish temperature management.

Other home treatments include healthy eating plan and exercise. Your diet program should include a large glass of orange juice which contains large amounts of calcium, which means that you don’t have to rely on substitutes or supplements. Calcium is claimed to be able to relax the muscles and enhance the flow of blood, which should help in alleviating pain. Furthermore, foods that trigger migraine headaches should be avoided. It is difficult to perform them during a headache, therefore physical exercises are recommended to be performed before and after an attack. Physical workouts is thought to have the ability to enhance the flow of blood and its circulation all over the body. This increase, consequently, leads to more blood and oxygen to reach the brain. Performed regularly, exercising is capable of stopping migraine headaches from recurring.

Plantar fasciitis is usually caused by inflammation. The most common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis. It is important to know what is causing your heel pain to effectively treat it.

There are many options to treat heel pain that is caused by plantar fasciitis. Bromelain is a very effective enzyme that is derived from pineapples. It is a very effective natural anti-inflammatory. It is best to take it on an empty stomach.

When enzymes like bromelain are taken on an empty stomach, your body uses them to heal inflamed tissue. The enzymes can dissolve the damaged tissue that your body needs to heal. Your body uses enzymes that it makes to heal tissue damage. If you take bromelain, you are helping your body heal faster.

If you have plantar fasciitis, a night splint can be very helpful. When you sleep at night, your foot tissue relaxes. If you use a night splint, your foot stays in the correct position. When you get up in the morning, there will be no sudden tightening of inflamed heel tissue.

The most important symptoms to determine if you have plantar fasciitis and not just regular heel pain, is pain in the morning. The morning pain is the worst pain of the day. The reason the pain is worse is that you have stretching of inflamed tissue as well as the normal pain from inflammation. It feels like you stepped on a tack when you first got out of bed.

Taking natural enzymes and wearing a night splint is very important. It will take a month or two to recover. The reason is that you are walking on your feet all day, so the tissue is continually injured and irritated. A remedy for that is a heel guard. There are a variety of heel cushions on the market that can be placed in your shoes to relieve this pain.

The tissue on your heel is called connective tissue. It is also called joint tissue. This takes longer to heal than muscle tissue because it has very poor blood supply. Your body needs to be able to get blood in the area to heal it, so anything you do to improve circulation will speed healing.

Shingles Vaccine

Shingles is a disease that occurs more often as people age. It is the result of a leftover chicken pox virus that hides in the body waiting to show up as shingles. It has been known to be quite painful as the virus runs along the highly sensitive nerve endings in the human body. It is a recurring disease and the shingles vaccine has shown great measures in reducing the likelihood of the disease developing and also lessens the degree of painfulness of the disease.

The disease occurs in people who have experienced chicken pox during their lives. After the illness is gone the actual virus is still in the body. Certain life events may cause the virus to strike again in the form of shingles. There is no way of telling if an episode is coming on.

The illness may be invoked by stresses that a person experiences either physically or emotionally. Other things that may bring about an occurrence are surgery, eating poorly or just the process of aging. Being exposed to a case of it will not make someone catch the disease. However if they have not ever had chicken pox and if they come into contact with the fluid from a blister, they may develop chicken pox. It is advisable to keep any oozing rash clean and covered.

Sufferers will first notice pain or tingling as the virus is spreading across sensitive nerves and then a blistery rash will usually show up. The nerve pain from shingles can be so bad that it interrupts normal life routine. Steroids may be given to ease symptoms but the shingles vaccine itself is not used to treat symptoms rather it is used to prevent or lessen them in future occurrences.

The best treatment for shingles is to prevent them in the first place and by ensuring your immune system is not put at risk, and stress and anxiety play an important role. There have been numerous books written about this and one of the best eBooks available on a fast treatment for shingles is called “Fast Shingles Cure“. I have had the shingles twice and with the help of this book, I hope never to have them again. Please take a minute and review my findings. By reducing stress and having a good immune system will help ward off almost all types of diseases including cancer.

The Shingles Vaccine

The shingles vaccine is made from a weak strain of the chicken pox virus. Like most vaccinations, it is given in the upper arm area. Some people may experience minor side effects that include itching, redness, or swelling. One of the big drawbacks is its cost which can be quite expensive per shot although the cost may be covered by health insurance.

Studies have shown that the vaccine actually reduces the likelihood of getting the virus by about fifty percent. It also typically reduces the degree of pain that is felt while the disease is in an active stage. It can recur many times so it is recommended for most people over the age of sixty.

In some cases the shingles vaccine is not advised. People that already have an immune system disease should not take the vaccine because their immune system is weakened. Additionally, persons that have known allergies to any of components of the vaccine should avoid it. Pregnant women and cancer patients are not supposed to receive this type of vaccination.

The vaccination has been proven to positively control the development of shingles but there are still over a million cases annually. Anyone over the age of sixty should routinely receive the vaccination as a preventative health care measure. All medical advice should only be followed under doctors care and this is also true regarding the shingles vaccine.

Leif Oakman has written an article about reducing anxiety that I feel is directly linked to reducing stress and a pre-treatment for shingles.

Finding Alternatives to Eliminate Anxiety in Life

By Leif Oakman

Anxiety is the most common form of psychological disorder that is also one of the most difficult to deal with and has the most potential to disrupt your life. With stress entering our lives on a daily basis, through different sources, we allow anxiety to develop within our minds. As different stress-causing elements affect people in different ways, a number of varied forms of cognitive problems begin to take “real estate” in their heads, each with their own unique combination of symptoms.

In order to effectively deal with anxiety attacks, it is important to understand the psychoanalytic, behavioral and cognitive theories attached to it. In Fighting anxiety, it is helpful to know, for instance, that anxiety disorders, unlike panic attacks, are mostly rooted in stressful events rather than genetic makeup. Anything from physical ailments to substance abuse or work environments can cause anxiety while, for some people, withdrawing from these problems might also be a cause or add to the stress that can eventually lead to anxiety.

To understand how to deal with anxiety attacks, you need to consult a professional who can guide you through the process of psychotherapy. Fighting anxiety through means of psychological treatment is extremely common today and should not have any stigma or taboo attached to it as the entire profession was looked at in the past. As a matter of fact, proactively seeking professional health shows a sense of responsibiliy and self-empowerment as you take charge of your own life.

There are several options on how to deal with anxiety attacks. One of the more common ones that most people and health professionals “default” to is drug therapy. Drug Therapy is a popular scientific technique that combines the use of anti-depressant and anti-anxiety agents to relieve physical and mental symptoms. Although considered to be quite effective in the task of treating the symptoms, the relief is merely temporary. Drugs are never the first line of defense when it comes to treating anxiety and are always used alongside psychotherapy. There are several side-effects too, like dizziness or nausea and there is also the problem of becoming over-dependent on the drug for relief which is a realistic yet unwanted possibility.

Therapists consider exposure to your fears as a great way of alleviating anxiety caused by those fears. By slowly and gradually exposing you to stress-causing situations, this form of therapy, known as “Exposure Therapy,” allows your mind to slowly come to terms with your fears, one small step at a time. Patients, in this format, are able to overcome their anxiety over a long period of time as, gradually, they start facing their fears and learn to develop the mental strength to overcome the trauma they cause in their minds.

The more popular therapy used for fighting anxiety is related to cognitive-behavior. Instead of focusing on the problem, this therapy technique focuses on helping you find a solution through positive thinking. By instilling a sense of positivity and belief in your mind, your self-confidence levels are raised to see those stress-causing situations for what they are – mere hurdles that you have the power to overcome. This form of therapy helps deal with the situations you are facing, by changing your attitude.

The length of time required for therapy to be effective varies for each individual. Since every single person has different fears or stress-causing points, their type and level of anxiety is also different. You can help reduce stress in life by taking charge of your life and not letting external circumstances, which are beyond your control, drive your life. One most commonly overlooked yet effective strategy for dealing with anxiety is simply establishing good eating habits and following a healthy lifestyle. Give it a try for a few days and you can slowly see the difference in your overall attitude as well as your mental, emotional and physical health.

When you know the different techniques on how to deal with anxiety attacks, you will realize that fighting anxiety is all about identifying the root of the problem and solving it through methodical therapy. When you stop worrying about matters that are out of your control, you start strengthening your mind’s ability to focus on the things that are within your control. That, along with professionally-aided therapy, is the best way to beat anxiety.

Shingles treatment methods have evolved over the years and today we have the most advanced technologies being employed for the treatment of shingles which is one of those diseases that managed to infect around 20% of the population in the US. One of the major causes of “waking up” the shingles virus is a deficient immune system. Conditions that contribute to the deterioration of an individual’s include old age, stress and disease. What’s most important about shingles treatment is identifying and treating the shingles rash when it’s in its earliest stage. In most cases, there are not many complications and that’s one reason why people take it lightly, until they are infected, then they wish they hadn’t taken it so lightly. About 20% of individuals infected with shingles sufferer severely and in these case there may be more serious complications such as extreme pain, during and after the outbreak, scarring from blistering and in rare instances blinding may occur if the rash invades the eyes.

The virus that causes chicken pox also causes the shingles and therefore the shingles treatment bears a resemblance to the treatment of chicken pox. There are numerous shingles treatment methods that have been developed over the years and it’s always wise to follow a systematic approach for a problem like shingles.

For instance, the most methodical and scientific approach to shingles treatment is to identify the cause or causes that triggered the attack of the virus in the first place. It is also interesting to note that only an individual who has been affected by chicken pox is threatened by the problem of shingles. To be more specific, an individual who suffered from chicken pox will be affected by shingles when the virus that caused the chicken pox reactivates in their body. If you’ve never had the chicken pox you will not get shingles; however, if you are near someone with shingles during their contagious period, then you will get the chicken pox instead.

Some Common Shingles Treatment

Studies conducted by experts revealed that with a good shingles treatment, the problem can be cured in a short time frame. However, most doctors usually prescribe an antiviral medication along with anesthetics that usually reduce the pain and help reduce the breakout along with the signs and symptoms produced by the virus. This particular treatment is effective as the virus runs its course but does very little to speed up the cure. There are known cures that can stop the pain, dry up the blisters, and reduce the rash in a very short period of time, but the doctors seem reluctant to tell you about them.

This has led many people to take up natural remedies for treating shingles and this method has also proven to be useful in getting rid of the virus along with the signs and symptoms that they trigger. Most importantly this method of shingles treatment happens to be the safest option that one has and their effectiveness also makes them a plausible solution.

Vitamin C happens to be an effective supplement against the disease because of their ability to improve the performance of the immune system as well as helps the body in resisting the symptoms that the shingles virus produces. Calamine lotion might also be very well known to most of you and is used for the elimination of any kind of itchiness or skin irritation caused by the blisters and can help the lesions to dry up.

Lysine is another essential component that one can resort to because of their amazing ability to prevent the intake of arginine which is a requirement for the shingles virus to survive and stay active. Taking up 1000mg of lysine at least three times a day can help you slow down the virus and you will notice a significant improvement using this shingles treatment method.

As with most diseases, the most effective cure is to not get the disease at all. A vaccine for shingles was developed and licensed in 2006. During the clinical trials, this vaccine reduced the risk of shingles by 50%. It can also reduce the pain in those who still contract the shingles after being vaccinated. A single dose of the shingles vaccine is recommended for adults who are 60 years old and older. I talk about this vaccine and complications in another article.

Shingles can be prevented by ensuring your immune system is not put in jeopardy. There have been numerous books written about boosting your immune system. One of the best eBooks available on a fast shingles treatment and shingles prevention, which by the way your doctor does not want you to know about is called “Fast Shingles Cure“. I have had the shingles twice now and with the help of this book, hope never to have them again. Take a minute and review my findings on this great eBook. A good immune system can help ward off almost all types of diseases including cancer. So, if you don’t want to activate the shingles virus, and take my word for it that you do not want to activate the shingles virus, then concentrate on keeping a healthy immune system and you won’t need a shingles treatment.

Are Shingles Contagious And Do They Pose A Threat To Your Health

Are Shingles Contagious?

Shingles are often described as similar to chickenpox as a result of its appearance, group of symptoms and because it results from the same virus. The answer to the question, are shingles contagious requires a closer look at the nature of this disease. It is important to understand the symptoms as well as complications that are associated with this serious illness.

Upon infection, flu like symptoms are first likely to appear followed by the distinct blistering rash characteristic of this disease. The rash may be described as the formation of inflamed blisters and is otherwise known as Herpes Zoster. In order for the shingles contagious virus to manifest itself in humans, various conditions must be present especially true for those who have had previous exposure to chickenpox.

Conditions more likely to increase susceptibility to developing the virus include immunosuppression as a result of exposure to chronic stress and the presence of diseases such as HIV. Symptoms are described as chronic head pain, fever, the shivers and possible nausea. A large number of individuals often report a lack of energy and the development of its distinct rash.

This distinct rash develops as inflamed blisters that are painful to the touch and often develops in the shape or strips or bands across the skin. The blisters are described as extremely painful and itchy which is the reason it is often confused with chickenpox. Rashes are most notable across the spine and chest where episodes of itching may begin at the site of rashes.

The line or band that is usually formed as a result of this virus is what distinguishes it from other diseases such as chickenpox. The answer as to whether shingles is a contagious disease pertains to the fact that it is caused by the virus responsible for chickenpox and is therefore considered contagious when in contact with another. The spread of this illness is highest when a healthy person comes into contact with the rash, blisters and wounds of another who is infected.

The peak for spread of the disease is during the stage of blister formation and the appearance of rashes. Eventually these blisters will begin to dry and develop scab like formations which are not considered contagious. Individuals who have had chickenpox are at greater risk for disease compared to those who have not had chickenpox.

Bottom Line – Is Shingles Contagious?

People who have not been previously infected with chickenpox and are exposed to another infected with shingles through informal contact will not contract the disease. Informal contact means that there is no direct physical contact with the blisters or rashes and as it is not airborne, it cannot be contracted as with influenza through coughing or sneezing. Those with disease affecting the strength of the immune system and those who are pregnant should avoid any contact with infected persons.

Read my review on a great eBook that will answer your questions about shingles contagious periods and provide shingles pain relief fast.

To prevent infection, those with a lower immune system such as the elderly and young should avoid direct contact with infected individuals. Specific vaccinations have been developed to protect against the virus however, the practice of personal hygiene is essential. Answering, are shingles contagious is dependent on the phase of the disease, immune system strength as well as a history of previous exposure to the virus that is chickenpox.

Shingles and Stress

One of the major causes of shingles is Stress; therefore if you understand why you’re stressed in the first place you can help prevent your first or more cases of shingles. Shingles are a blistering rash that are ugly and burn. It is the same virus as chicken pox that has lain dormant for decades and has woken up. The reasons this virus has woken up can be varied, but there is no doubt that stress has a lot to do with it.

Shingles and Stress

Stress relief has been talked about for years and not only causes shingles, but can cause other health issues as well. There is quite a controversy as to the way to deal with stress and a multitude of different ways to reduce it. For example, different cultures have different techniques. The Hindus have yoga while the Japanese practice Zen. Both of these methods provide excellent results in relieving stress.

Yoga includes stretching your muscles in several different positions and poses to relax each body part. During yoga meditation and a considerable amount of concentration is needed for each pose and when completed correctly with great effort is said to eventually give you a youthful glow and allow you to reduce your stress levels. Zen focuses almost entirely on meditation and is a more philosophical approach to relieving stress and works quit well if practiced on a regular schedule.

There are other stress relieving exercises which include deep breathing, listening to light music or chanting, reading, getting out within nature, and even light physical exercise; each individual has to find their own method that works best for them. There are other types of mood altering activities such as going bowling or golfing, playing bingo, working in your garden or even cooking/baking. Whatever your choice is, there may be adverse consequences. For instance, there is a health risk if you choose to smoke to relieve your stress. Some people even find acupuncture and hypnosis as a way to help relieve stress. Obviously, these last two may cost a little more money and always be sure to use a professional. If you need to find a local professional it may be as easy as to use the internet or phone book under physicians or alternative medicine.

As with any physical regimen always be sure to consult with a physician before you start. Your physician will have many different helpful ways to reduce stress and be tailored to your needs and physical ability. He or she will be able to discuss your different options and inform you of any adverse effects they may cause. They may also be able to prescribe you medication if you may be at risk for other health issues such as heart attack or stroke. Finally, professional therapy may help reduce your stress.

We all love the people in our lives, but let’s face it, they are often the cause of your stress. Everyday we deal with stress, but it doesn’t have to destroy our lives. Being able to control our stress levels is important to our overall body health. We must all make time for ourselves that is quiet and free from distractions. It can be very easy to maintain a relaxed body and mind if you have the right motivation, knowledge and tools.

Finding an easy and effective natural cure for shingles can be quite hard. As is the way with natural cures, many do not work as well as some would claim. In order to aid you in finding an effective natural cure for shingles we have collected the best and most effective remedies into one convenient place.

Causes of Shingles

Firstly, what is shingles and what causes it. Shingles is blistering rash that can cause high levels of pain in those who are infected with it. It is caused by the “Herpes Zoste” virus. This is the same virus that causes chickenpox in children. It will often start with localized pain. After a period of a few days this will turn into a red, spotted rash. Soon after these spots will turn into blisters. This will only affect a localized area of the body due to the fact that it only affects skin attached to one single nerve. Please note that while natural remedies are fantastic, it is always best to consult your doctor as shingles can, in more rare cases, cause serious problems such as blindness (only if it infects the eye)

Now that we have went through what shingles is and its symptoms, it is time to discuss the best and most effective cures for shingles. The first cure that we are going to talk about is lifestyle changes. There are 3 key nutrients that you must take if you have shingles. These are Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin B12. Vitamin C can be obtained from a multitude of sources including Kiwis, Apples, Citrus fruits and berries. Good sources of vitamin E are Tomatoes, Avocados and Mango’s. Finally, good sources of Vitamin B12 are Apricots, and fortified soy beverages. In addition to increasing you intake of these vitamins it is also essential that you cut out as much sugar from your diet as possible. Other lifestyle choices that will aid your recovery include: avoiding stress, avoiding heat, wearing less tight clothes and keeping well rested.

My favorite natural cure for shingles

The second natural cure for shingles is Apple Cider Vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is a fantastic treatment to the symptoms of shingles. By applying it directly to the rash it will alleviate some symptoms and minimize the pain and discomfort that it causes. You should apply the apple cider vinegar liberally to the affected areas of your skin and then allow it to dry out. This can be used as often as required. In addition to alleviating the painful and discomforting symptoms of shingles it can also speed up the healing process. This is done by acetic acid which is the main active ingredient in vinegar. You can also take Apple Cider Vinegar internally. We would recommend taking two tablespoons of it and then mixing that with a glass of water. The taste of this mixture can be very unpleasant so it is a good idea to add something (which is sugar free) to sweeten it.

Another great natural cure for shingles

Another natural cure for shingles is Cayenne Pepper. This is a hot and spicy ingredient that is often added to foods. If you like this kind of flavor then adding some of this to food is a good idea. When taken internally it has many positive effects on your overall health. While taking it internally is great, the best way to use it to treat shingles is to take it externally in an ointment. By rubbing it on the affected areas of skin it will provide a quick relief to the symptoms such as sharp pain and itching. To make an ointment at home we recommend mixing some Cayenne pepper with some body lotion.

The last natural cure of shingles that we recommend is oatmeal. While it is a healthy option, taking it internally isn’t going to help shingles too much. What you should do is take some uncooked oatmeal and add water drop by drop until you create a paste of a thick consistency. When applied directly to the rash this can be a near immediate relief to the pain and itching.

While there are many other remedies for the shingles, the ones that are compiled here are the best of the best. Overall, we would have to say the best natural cure for shingles is Apple Cider Vinegar due to its effectiveness in both relieving symptoms and providing a cure for the illness.

How many shingles causes are there? We need to understand what literally causes shingles and it is also good to know what influences can cause shingles. To learn the answers about both we need to understand more about shingles itself. What are the shingles complications and is shingles contagious?

About Shingles

Shingles is a rash found usually around the midsection of the body but can also be found on the face and the shingles contagious period can vary. The VZV or Varicella zoster virus that also causes the chickenpox causes shingles to occur. One of the shingles complications is a person who has never had the chickenpox cannot first have shingles. However, a person who has never had the chickenpox can contract the virus from someone who is contagious with shingles and possible have an episode of chickenpox occur. In addition, if one has had shingles they can possibly have it again. But what are the shingles causes?

Shingles Causes:

The VZV once contained and the individual who has experienced an episode of the chickenpox, the virus will go dormant and will stay inactive until something awakens it. The something can be a number of “causes” but there are a few factors that seem to be more common. Factors can be, but not limited to, the following:

• Age 50 and older
• Cancer (any type)
• Chronic Diseases (diabetes, HIV)
• Illness/Injury
• Medications
• Organ Transplant
• Poor Nutrition
• Radiation Therapy
• Steroid Therapy
• Stress
• Surgery
• Weak Immune System (chemotherapy, AIDS)

As you can see by the list noted above, one of the common factors between them all is a compromised or poor immune system. It must be stated that just because an individual has an issue with their immune system doesn’t mean that they will experience shingles. Also, most of the items noted on the above list, the individual is usually under medical supervision and regularly visits their doctor so if there is an issues with shingles it will be caught in its early stages.

Shingles Symptoms

Shingles typically begins with itching, tingling or pain and then a few days later some red, itchy bumps usually in patches are formed around the chest and/or mid-waist area; there can be patches on the face too, although like chickenpox, they can be found anywhere on the body. The bumps are red and look like chickenpox but are blisters. Some symptoms that one may experience are headaches, fever and/or chills, diarrhea, nausea and even swelling and/or tenderness of the lymph nodes.

The blisters tend to be in a “stripe” formation and usually only on one side of the individuals body. The fluid within the blisters will first be clear and then can turn cloudy. It takes about 5 days for the blisters to go through the cycle of possibly bursting open and then forming a healing crust; the entire process for shingles itself to be resolved can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks on average. The most common symptom is pain. For many, the pain is extreme; so intense that it can be deliberating to the individual.

Learn about the “Fast Shingles Cure” here.

If you experience any of the above symptoms and have concerns, regardless if it is chickenpox or shingles, you should seek medical help as soon as possible. You need to receive medication to stop the virus and obtain shingles pain relief that will be experienced. There is a natural cure for shingles that I go into on another page that asks the question, are shingles contagious? Finally, the shingles causes are one, which is the Varicella zoster virus, but the factors are numerous.
